Structural Alterations & Steel Beams
Load-bearing walls removed and steel beams installed to open up homes.
Opening up a home takes more than knocking through a wall. The structural projects shown here involved removing load-bearing walls and chimney breasts in houses across Essex, installing steel beams to engineers' calculations and creating the wide, open plan spaces that older properties were never built with. Each job is propped safely while the masonry comes out, then the steel is lifted, levelled and padstoned before anything is released.
Our in-house team handles the whole sequence, from initial builders' work and temporary supports through to boxing in the steel, making good the surrounding walls and ceilings, and plastering ready for decoration. Because building and finishing trades work together under one roof, the disruption is kept short and the room is handed back genuinely finished rather than left at first fix.
We have carried out alterations in Victorian terraces, 1930s semis and modern homes alike, always fully insured and with our workmanship guarantee behind every beam.
